This study examines the influence of career management practices on retaining competent employees within SONATRACH. The primary objective is to analyse how well-structured career management programs affect long-term employee engagement. Using deductive methods and quantitative approaches, the research utilized both primary and secondary data sources. Career management practices investigated include promotion opportunities, training programs, succession planning, career change opportunities, evaluation processes, and recognition and reward systems. Findings indicate that career advancement opportunities, comprehensive training, and effective succession planning are crucial for fostering a positive work environment and employee loyalty. Although career change opportunities and evaluation processes are important for employee development, their impact on retention is complex. Balancing these with supportive evaluation mechanisms enhances retention. Recognition and rewards are key factors in retaining competent employees and boosting loyalty. Overall, the study confirms the importance of effective career management practices in promoting employee satisfaction and long-term retention at SONATRACH.
