The implementation process of the business intelligence solution within the banking industry: case the head office of SGA Bank, Algiers

Abstract

This study examines how BI solutions are implemented and utilized in the banking industry, focusing on strategies, challenges, and best practices throughout their lifecycle. Using a qualitative research approach with semi-structured interviews and field observations, we analyzed data quality management, security, integration, and user training strategies. Despite the effectiveness of the phased BI implementation approach in managing timelines and budgets, challenges in data quality, particularly documentation and data entry, persist. A structured framework was applied to evaluate BI system performance across several dimensions: system functionality, data quality, user training, and continuous optimization. Key areas for improvement include enhancing data governance practices and continuous user training. Practical implications of this research provide guidelines for banks to implement or improve their BI solutions, emphasizing robust data governance, regular data audits, and comprehensive training programs. This research highlights the importance of effective BI implementation in the banking industry, emphasizing data governance and user engagement for success, offering valuable recommendations for enhanced decision-making and competitive advantage.
