Abstract
This study explores supplier selection strategies within the purchasing function of the
Algerian industrial sector, focusing on SPA Condor Electronics. Supplier selection is a
strategic activity that influences costs, product quality, and supply continuity, especially in
uncertain environments.
The research aimed to identify the main criteria, strategies, and challenges involved in
selecting suppliers. A qualitative approach was adopted, involving semi-structured
interviews with purchasing professionals and a documentary analysis of the company’s
internal tools and practices. The data were analysed thematically using NVivo software.
The findings showed that supplier selection is based on key criteria such as cost, quality, and
delivery reliability, but is also strongly influenced by contextual factors like import
restrictions and supplier availability. The study also highlights the use of both single and
multiple sourcing strategies.
Overall, the research provides practical insights into supplier selection practices and
contributes to a deeper understanding of purchasing strategies in the Algerian context.
